Andrew Baturo
Andrew Baturo is one of Brisbane’s hospitality stalwarts, having been in the industry for over 30 years. He started his hospitality career at Friday's as a glassie in the late 80’s.
In 2000 Andrew started his first ever venture, the infamous Joe Diamond’s in Darlinghurst in Sydney. And in 2002 was a part of the Management Team that was instrumental in bringing the acclaimed wagamama franchise to Australia.
After a successful stint with wagamama, Andrew was keen to develop his own Eurasian, shared-dining concept - and, subsequently, in 2005 Libertine Restaurant and Cocktail Bar was created - and posited in Sydney’s vibrant Kings Cross. Heading home to Brisbane in 2009 he opened his second Libertine in the Paddington Barracks.
Shortly afterwards, in 2011, Andrew joined Paul Piticco and Denis Sheahan to create DAP & Co Hospitality Group - a partnership that has produced some of Brisbane’s most popular and beloved venues including Popolo Italian Kitchen and Bar, The Gresham Bar and Walter’s Steakhouse.
DAP and Co have most recently reimagined the stunning 3-level Naldham House (formerly known as the Polo Club) with Naldham Brasserie, The Terrace, Club Felix and a soon-to-be opened premium specialty restaurant on the upper floor.
In 2020, Andrew opened Naga Thai Restaurant as a short-term ‘pop-up’ venue in the iconic Eagle Street Pier riverside dining precinct - the precinct has since been demolished to make way for the new Dexus Development ‘Waterfront Brisbane’. However, Andrew is confident Naga will make a comeback in the not-too-distant future.
In 2022, Andrew signed a lease at Riparian Plaza on a prestigious riverside site where he introduced his latest hospitality offering, Tillerman Seafood Restaurant and Bar, to the Brisbane CBD. Boasting arguably the best views of the Story Bridge and Brisbane River, Tillerman has already won many hearts and return guests with its fresh seafood, stunning resort-style design, engaging team and relaxed dining ethos.
